- We may be able to answer some of your questions
We will offer to send you a proposal for a Feasibility Study
This will involve
- A visit to the site by one of our Engineers
- An assessment of the Site Specific Issues
- Some rudimentary measurements
A short written report which will :
- Identify the issues
- Advise on the solutions to the issues
- Advise on the necessary legal matters relevant to the proposed bridge
- Supply a General Arrangement Drawing of the bridge
- Provide an indicative cost
- Indicate a probable time scale for project completion
By commissioning a Feasibility Study you will be provided with a document you can use to manage the project going forward either with ourselves or with other providers.
There is no further commitment
There is usually a delay while Client absorb the Feasibility Study and discuss its contents with Colleagues
Once most Clients have received and absorbed the Feasibility Study they either
- Abandon the project
- Commission a Design and Consents Exercise
Each Design and Consent Exercise is unique and depends on the scope of the project.
A 7m wooden pedestrian bridge would be less onerous than a 20m vehicle bridge for example but they have certain common features
- A Topographical Survey is carried out
- In most cases a Site Investigation is carried out to determine the quality of the ground on which the bridge may be built
- Depending on the obstacle crossed a minimum level for the under side of the bridge is established
- An ecological survey is carried out to determine what species may be present and what measures need to be taken to manage the works to minimise the impact on the wildlife
- The ecological status of the site is established
- Foundations are designed
- An application is started to the relevant body managing the obstacle to be crossed
- A conversation with your local Planning Body is started to find out if Planning Permission is required
- An outline design is produced to form part of the above applications
- Once the necessary Consents have been received we make a submission which includes all of the information we have obtained
- An Indicative Cost is then supplied based on the assumptions made in the Exercise.
- A fee is advised in advance which includes the above but does not include any Fees levied by the Consenting bodies. We can pay these and recharge you if you prefer.
- After our presentation the Client is not committed in any way to progressing the project at all or to do so with ourselves.
- We invariably achieve our goal of ensuring our Client is in a position to make an informed decision.
